Meyar enters trial production at Malham concrete plant
26 September 2024Saudi Arabia: Meyar has initiated trial operations at its new ready-mix concrete and concrete products plant in Malham, Riyadh. Argaam News has reported that the trial will ascertain the proper functioning of equipment and the efficiency of the plant.
Meyar acquired the Malham site in September 2023 for US$880,000.
Fox Brothers to merge with JA Jackson following acquisition by Stellex Capital Management
26 September 2024UK: US-based Stellex Capital Management has acquired ready-mix concrete producer and haulier Fox Brothers. Fox Brothers’ portfolio also includes aggregates recycling, quarrying and muck-away services, under subsidiaries including B&W Plant Hire & Sales, Monks Training Services, Tipworx and Woods Waste. Following its acquisition by Stellex Capital Management, Fox Brothers will now merge with ready-mix concrete and aggregates producer JA Jackson.
The Sarjeant inaugurates Parry Sound ready-mix concrete plant
26 September 2024Canada: The Sarjeant has inaugurated its new Parry Sound ready-mix concrete plant. The plant is intended to help meet growing demand and support the growth of the local construction industry. Local press has reported that the project was partly funded by a US$298,000 grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. In turn, The Sarjeant donated US$37,100 to the Let’s Make a Splash campaign for construction of the upcoming West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre.
Orgain Ready Mix Concrete issued notice over Red River spill
26 September 2024US: Authorities have issued a notice of violation to Orgain Ready Mix Concrete for an alleged spillage of concrete into the Red River near its Clarksville, Tennessee, ready-mix concrete plant. Local press has reported that the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation received reports of materials dumped at a location along the road from the site. A subsequent investigation found ‘cementitious staining’ and ‘solids-laden discharges’ on the riverbank.
Leube Gruppe acquires Marolt Beton
13 September 2024Slovenia: Austria-based Leube Gruppe has acquired Slovenian ready-mix concrete market leader Marolt Beton market leader. Kronen Zeitung News has reported that Marolt Beton genereted a turnover of €16m across its 10 locations in 2023.
Leube Gruppe previously expanded its presence in Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany through recent acquisitions.
Dublin City Council enacts Low-Carbon Concrete Code
13 September 2024US: The city council of Dublin, California, has enacted the Low-Carbon Concrete Code, requiring a given reduction in CO2 emissions of all ready-mix concrete used in public and private construction projects. Independent News has reported that suitable alternatives to conventional concrete are locally available and offer cost parity, according to the city council.
Kyrgyzstan: The government says that an upcoming 75m3/hr ready-mix concrete batching plant in Naryn region will enter operation before November 2024. Trend News has reported that the plant will be equipped with a 180t/hr aggregates crushing plant.
Court upholds permit denial for Shelly Co.’s proposed Alexandria ready-mixed concrete plant
23 August 2024US: A Licking County court has upheld the county council’s decision to deny a permit for Shelly Co. to build a ready-mix concrete batching plant near Alexandria. The company’s proposal also included the construction of an asphalt mixing plant at the site in Ohio. Local press has reported that Shelly Co. failed in its attempt to argue that floodplain regulations did not apply to the site due to its historical use as an aggregates quarry.
Julpit plans ready-mix concrete plant for Fort Bend County
21 August 2024US: Julpit is seeking a permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to build a new ready-mix concrete batching plant in Fort Bend County, Texas. The facility will also be equipped with a stone crushing plant. Local press has reported that a public comment session over the plans took place on 20 August 2024.

América Construcciones’ Villarreal de Tamarindo ready-mix concrete plant and offices ready for commissioning
20 August 2024Costa Rica: América Construcciones (AMCO) is preparing to inaugurate its new Villarreal de Tamarindo ready-mix concrete batching plant and office complex in Guanacaste on 22 August 2024. The entire facility cost US$1.05m and the plant has a production capacity of 110m3/hr.
General manager Pablo Labarca said "We have several areas of interest in the province, but Santa Cruz is particularly interesting to us because we know that many of AMCO's clients that are currently developing projects in the area have particular requirements, both in terms of the quality of the products, as well as the level of service they expect.”
