US: Knife River has completed its acquisition of North Dakota-based ready-mix concrete, aggregates and asphalt producer Strata Corporation for US$454m. Strata Corporation employs 900 seasonal workers and commands 28 ready-mix plants, three asphalt plants and 30 years of aggregates reserves, supported by a logistics fleet of seven trains and 400 railcars. It also includes a contracting services division. Strata Corporation will merge into Knife River's Central Region operations.

US: Private equity firm Big 7 Ventures has acquired Nevada-based Modern Concrete. Big 7 Ventures says that the company will continue to operate under its existing management team under founding President Scott Reutner.

US: UK-based Breedon Group has acquired Missouri-based roadbuilding firm Lionmark for US$241m. The group says that the acquisition will double its US revenues. The Daily Mail newspaper has reported that Breedon Group currently faces a construction sector ‘slowdown’ in its home market of the UK.

Breedon Group first entered the US through its acquisition of ready-mix concrete producer BMC Enterprises in March 2024.

Argentina: Holcim Argentina has acquired ready-mix concrete producer Horcrisa for US$32m. Horcrisa operates seven concrete batching plants in the cities of Caseros, General Pacheco and Isidro Casanova in Greater Buenos Aires, with a combined production capacity of 1.2Mm³/yr.

Holcim Argentina CEO Pablo Bittar noted the importance of Greater Buenos Aires as representing 40% of Argentina's concrete consumption.

US: Concrete Supply Co. has reportedly acquired 30 ready-mix concrete plants in North and South Carolina from Argos USA. Concrete Supply Co. said that the purchase will enhance its service for customers in the growing markets of Charlotte, Charleston, Columbia and Raleigh.

US: BPGC Management has acquired a majority stake in ready-mix concrete and aggregates producer PB Materials Holdings. PR Hub News has reported that BPGC Management serves the South East New Mexico and West Texas markets.

UK: FP McCann Group has acquired Country Antrim-based precast concrete producer Macrete Ireland. The Irish News has reported that Macrete Ireland's Ballymaguigan plant has integrated into FP McCann's network of 10 other precast concrete plants in Northern Ireland.

FP McCann reportedly says that it is the largest precast concrete producer in the UK, with nine further plants operating in Great Britain. It announced a €107m investment in capacity expansion across its operations in August 2024.

Brazil: China-based Huaxin Cement has acquired Embu Engenharia e Comércio for US$186m. Migalhas News has reported that Embu Engenharia e Comércio mines 8.8Mt/yr of aggregates across its four quarries in São Paulo Metropolitan Region.

The completed acquisition marks the entry of the global top-10 cement producer into the Brazilian market. It previously acquired Brazil-based InterCement’s South African business in December 2023.

Romania: Romcim, a subsidiary of Ireland-based CRH, has concluded a deal with BCC Agregate Betoane for the acquisition of two ready-mix concrete plants in Iași County. The Romania Journal newspaper has reported that the proposed acquisition is under review by Romania’s Competition Council.

US: Precast concrete products specialist Del Zotto Concrete Products has announced its acquisition of Florida-based Gulf Coast Ready-Mix. Cision News has reported that Gulf Coast Ready Mix produces ready-mix concrete and concrete blocks for the Citrus County market and surrounding areas.
