Leube Gruppe acquires Marolt Beton
13 September 2024Slovenia: Austria-based Leube Gruppe has acquired Slovenian ready-mix concrete market leader Marolt Beton market leader. Kronen Zeitung News has reported that Marolt Beton genereted a turnover of €16m across its 10 locations in 2023.
Leube Gruppe previously expanded its presence in Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany through recent acquisitions.
Cemex acquires majority stake in RC-Baustoffe
04 September 2024Germany: Cemex has acquired a majority stake in the Berlin-based recycling company RC-Baustoffe to enhance its circularity business Regenera. The company processes construction, demolition and excavation materials. The acquisition integrates RC-Baustoffe with Regenera, allowing the facility to process up to 400,000t/yr, which will be turned into repurposed aggregates for concrete production.
CEO of Cemex, Fernando González, said “With acquisitions such as this, Cemex continues to strengthen its commitment to circularity through Regenera as well as promoting the world’s transition to a more circular economy. Construction and demolition materials account for more than 30% of global ‘waste’ streams and reintegrating these materials into the construction value chain can reduce the use of virgin raw materials."
Saudi Arabia: Doha Concrete Molds Factory (DCMF) has entered into a strategic partnership with Saudi Vitrified Clay Pipes (SVCP). Under the terms of the partnership, DCMF will acquire outstanding shares in precast concrete products company Saudi Land Factory Company for Cement Products (SLFCCP). Arab News has reported that that the partnership builds on a pre-existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) for DCMF to relocate Qatari production lines to SLFCCP’s plant, in exchange for a 55% stake in the latter.
Holcim acquires Mixercon and Comacsa
09 August 2024Peru: Switzerland-based Holcim has acquired ready-mix concrete producer Mixercon and industrial minerals producer Comacsa for US$100m combined. Noticias Financieras News has reported that the acquisitions mark Holcim’s entry into Peru, strengthening its hold in the South and Central American market.
Regional head Oliver Osswald said "The incorporation of Comacsa and Mixercon will allow us to generate synergies and develop export markets.”
Sika acquires Vinaldom
02 August 2024Dominican Republic: Sika has acquired concrete admixtures, fibres, adhesives and sealants producer Vinaldom. Nasdaq News has reported that the deal brings Sika into possession of its first plant in the Dominican Republic and its sixth in the Caribbean. The group says that the integration of Vinaldom offers ‘significant’ cross-selling opportunities.
Americas regional manager Mike Campion said "With Vinaldom, we will be able to serve and supply our customers in the Dominican Republic even better. The increased access to a broader customer base, supported by local manufacturing, will contribute to further expansion in the Dominican market. We warmly welcome the Vinaldom employees to the Sika team and look forward to growing our business together.”
YTL Corporation to acquire majority stake in NSL
24 July 2024Singapore: Malaysia-based YTL Corporation has concluded a conditional sale and purchase agreement for an 81% stake in NSL for US$169m. YTL Cement will launch a mandatory unconditional cash offer for all outstanding shares in NSL after completing the acquisition. NSL manufactures precast concrete components and operates an environmental services division.
CRH acquires Ary Corporation
23 July 2024US: CRH has acquired ready-mix concrete and aggregates producer Ary Corporation. The Commercial Observer newspaper has reported that Ary Corporation operates nine ready-mixed concrete plants and 25 aggregates sites, along with construction and paving services and seven asphalt plants.
CRH’s Americas Materials Solutions president, Scott Parson, said "We are delighted to welcome all Ary Corporation employees to the CRH family. The acquisition expands our existing footprint in Colorado and presents CRH with attractive opportunities for development and growth. As North America's leading integrated supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready mixed concrete and construction services, we look forward to serving customers in Colorado with our unique combination of building materials, products and solutions."
US: Heidelberg Materials North America has acquired aggregates and asphalt producer Highway Materials. Highway Materials is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and operates four stone quarries, a concrete recycling facility and other assets, with 350 employees. Heidelberg Materials previously acquired Texas-based aggregates producer Victory Rock and concrete recycling company Aaron Materials earlier in July 2024. The deals advance Germany-based Heidelberg Materials’ strategy of growth through small-to-medium-sized synergistic bolt-on acquisitions. The combined value of the acquisitions is US$380m, with anticipated earnings synergies of US$50m.
Heidelberg Materials North America president and CEO Chris Ward said “We are excited to further expand our footprint in two of the fastest-growing areas in the US. The addition of these operations complements our existing aggregates businesses in Texas and Pennsylvania, while also adding to our rapidly growing portfolio of circular solutions across North America.”

Command Alkon acquires Marcotte Systems
11 July 2024Canada: US-based Command Alkon has acquired concrete digitisation specialist Marcotte Systems. Command Alkon says that the acquisition will accelerate its deployment of cloud applications and automation software.
Marcotte Systems CEO Joel Bardier said "Joining forces with Command Alkon marks a significant milestone, not only for our company, but for the heavy building materials industry as a whole as it will drive the next generation of fully automated plant solutions.”
Command Alkon CEO Martin Willoughby said "Combining Marcotte’s plant automation solutions with Command Alkon’s Command Cloud platform will deliver enhanced value to customers, supporting their efficiency and sustainability goals."
Schwenk acquires Betoonimeister outright
04 July 2024Estonia: Germany-based Schwenk has acquired all outstanding shares of Betoonimeister. Baltic Business Daily News has reported that the concrete producer will continue operations under its existing name and management structure.
Betoonimeister general director Kalle Suitslepp said that the sale continues the companies’ existing collaboration, which began in February 2023, when Schwenk acquired 66% of shares in Betoonimeister.
Schwenk managing director Sergei Mironov said "Vertical integration is part of Schwenk's business strategy in all markets and we are pleased to see Betoonimeister fully joining our family as of today."
