Fletcher Building publishes first-half 2025 financial year results
19 February 2025New Zealand: Fletcher Building has reported its financial results for the first half of its 2025 financial year, which began on 1 July 2024. The group recorded sales of US$2.05bn, down by 7% year-on-year from US$2.21bn, and negative earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) at a loss of US$14.9m. It previously recorded a positive EBIT of US$44.1m in the corresponding first half of its 2024 financial year.
Fletcher Building’s Concrete division’s sales fell by 5% to US$307m and its EBIT fell by 30% to US$28.1m. The division’s capital expenditure targeted ‘asset renewal, quarry extensions and key in-flight initiatives,’ including the commissioning of Firth Industries’ new Auckland ready-mix concrete plant. Firth Industries underwent an overall ‘continued reduction’ in production and truck resources, in line with a reduction in its volumes.
Latvia: Heidelberg Materials Latvijas Betons says that it is on schedule to commence operations at its upcoming 20,000m3/yr concrete plant in Bauska on 1 March 2025. Nordic Daily News has reported that the plant will use recirculated water in its production.
River’s Edge Concrete to build ready-mix plant in Savage
12 February 2025US: The city council of Savage, Minnesota, has approved an interim-use permit for River's Edge Concrete’s upcoming ready-mix concrete plant in the city. The company plans to establish a 61,100m3/yr plant in the Prior Lake Aggregates gravel pit. Local press has reported that the interim-use permit will allow it to produce up to 22,900m3/yr of ready-mix concrete at the site.
Nuvoco Vistas launches second Nagpur ready-mix concrete plant
10 February 2025India: Nuvoco Vistas has commenced operations at its second, 90m³/hr ready-mix concrete plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Realty+ News has reported that the plant will receive raw materials from quarries in nearby Hingna and Panchgaon. It will supply the Nagpur market with Nuvoco Vistas’ Artiste decorative, Concreto high-strength, EcoDure reduced-CO2 and InstaMix bagged concretes.
Concrete Canvas announces Osh concrete fabric plant
10 February 2025Kyrgyzstan: UK-based Concrete Canvas has announced plans to build a 5Mm²/yr concrete fabric plant in Osh Region. Concrete fabric is a concrete-containing, flexible, waterproof geosynthetic composite mat, developed for use in irrigation canals.
Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Chair Adylbek Kasymaliev said “After the launch of the plant, instead of 100t of concrete, we will be able to use only 5t of this material, while achieving the expected result and significantly increasing the speed of installation.”
MIG Holding opens Jebel Ali precast concrete plant
04 February 2025UAE: MIG Holding has inaugurated its 700,000t/yr Jebel Ali precast concrete plant in Dubai, in collaboration with National Industries Park. Trade Arabia News has reported that the plant will help to accelerate development initiatives under the UAE’s Operation 300Bn industrial strategy.
A&L McCrae commissions new ready-mix concrete plant in Argyll
31 January 2025UK: A&L McCrae has commissioned its second ready-mix concrete batching plant at Barrachander quarry in Argyll, Scotland. West Coast Today News has reported that the producer already operates five aggregates sites. It employs 21 people in its ready-mix concrete business, and is seeking to hire 15 more.
A&L McCrae says that its next move will be to establish a third ready-mix concrete plant at Achnaba quarry in Lochgilphead.
US: Hilltop Basic Resources says it will discontinue operations at its Downtown Cincinnati ready-mix concrete batching plant by the end of January 2025. The Enquirer newspaper has reported that the producer will subsequently open a new plant 6km away in Cincinnati Riverside, completing its relocation there later in 2025. The former Downtown site will become a car park in service of local sports and music venues.
UK: Moore Concrete Products is building three new precast concrete plants at Ballymena in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Business Eye News has reported that the producer secured financing from Denmark-based Danske Bank. Alongside the expansion, Moore Concrete Products is developing a new enterprise resource planning system to digitally integrate its operations.
Urban Empire Builders launches new precast concrete plant for Kuching Urban Transportation System project
27 January 2025Malaysia: Urban Empire Builders says that it has commissioned a new precast concrete plant to serve the on-going Kuching Urban Transportation System public infrastructure project in Kuching, Sarawak. The Sarawak Tribune newspaper has reported that the plant will supply precast concrete elements for construction of the 12.3km-long Red Line railway, of which 6.3km will be elevated.
