Ukraine: Germany-based machinery manufacturer Vollert Anlagenbau is reportedly preparing to support the construction of prefabricated reinforced concrete plants starting with sites in Kyiv and Kharkiv. The project has an investment of around Euro110m, according to Ukraine Business News. The first plant in Kharkiv will have a capacity of 0.45Mm³/yr with an aim to reach 1Mm³/yr. The scheme is being supported by Germany-based insurance company Euler Hermes and is financed by a consortium of European banks. It will use a public–private partnership (PPP) model.

Ukraine: Türkiye-based ONUR Group says that it has invested over US$70m in Ukraine since its invasion by Russia on 24 February 2022. Ukraine Business News has reported that the company’s upcoming US$15m, 30,000t/yr ACTU dry building mixes plant is scheduled to commence operations in June 2025. The group also invested a further US$20m in the installation of a new line at its Shchyrets reinforced concrete elements plant. It invested US$4m in the construction of its EFE ready-mix and reinforced concrete elements plants, commissioned in October 2024, and another US$4m in its Shchyrets and Zhydachiv ready-mix concrete plants. Further investments went into the group’s planed and peeled veneer and lumber subsidiary Wood Industries.

New Zealand: Holcim New Zealand has received permission to build and operate a new ready-mix concrete batching plant in Dunedin. Local press has reported that the site will feature two silos: a 67t vertical cement silo and a 50t horizontal silo for supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs).

US: Concrete Supply Co. has reportedly acquired 30 ready-mix concrete plants in North and South Carolina from Argos USA. Concrete Supply Co. said that the purchase will enhance its service for customers in the growing markets of Charlotte, Charleston, Columbia and Raleigh.

US: Geiger Ready Mix has requested city authorities in De Soto, Kansas, to rezone a plot on which for it to build a new ready-mix concrete plant. The Kansas City Business Journal newspaper has reported that Geiger Ready Mix’s plans include a 780m² batching plant, a 600m² workshop and a 630m² office building.

New Zealand: Fletcher Building has reported its financial results for the first half of its 2025 financial year, which began on 1 July 2024. The group recorded sales of US$2.05bn, down by 7% year-on-year from US$2.21bn, and negative earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) at a loss of US$14.9m. It previously recorded a positive EBIT of US$44.1m in the corresponding first half of its 2024 financial year.

Fletcher Building’s Concrete division’s sales fell by 5% to US$307m and its EBIT fell by 30% to US$28.1m. The division’s capital expenditure targeted ‘asset renewal, quarry extensions and key in-flight initiatives,’ including the commissioning of Firth Industries’ new Auckland ready-mix concrete plant. Firth Industries underwent an overall ‘continued reduction’ in production and truck resources, in line with a reduction in its volumes.

Latvia: Heidelberg Materials Latvijas Betons says that it is on schedule to commence operations at its upcoming 20,000m³/yr concrete plant in Bauska on 1 March 2025. Nordic Daily News has reported that the plant will use recirculated water in its production.

US: The city council of Savage, Minnesota, has approved an interim-use permit for River's Edge Concrete’s upcoming ready-mix concrete plant in the city. The company plans to establish a 61,100m³/yr plant in the Prior Lake Aggregates gravel pit. Local press has reported that the interim-use permit will allow it to produce up to 22,900m³/yr of ready-mix concrete at the site.

India: Nuvoco Vistas has commenced operations at its second, 90m³/hr ready-mix concrete plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Realty+ News has reported that the plant will receive raw materials from quarries in nearby Hingna and Panchgaon. It will supply the Nagpur market with Nuvoco Vistas’ Artiste decorative, Concreto high-strength, EcoDure reduced-CO₂ and InstaMix bagged concretes.

Kyrgyzstan: UK-based Concrete Canvas has announced plans to build a 5Mm²/yr concrete fabric plant in Osh Region. Concrete fabric is a concrete-containing, flexible, waterproof geosynthetic composite mat, developed for use in irrigation canals.

Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Chair Adylbek Kasymaliev said “After the launch of the plant, instead of 100t of concrete, we will be able to use only 5t of this material, while achieving the expected result and significantly increasing the speed of installation.”
