Bahamas: Cementos Argos has supplied nearly 10,000t of cement for the concrete used for Disney Cruise Line's new 700m-long pier at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera Island, accounting for 85% of the total required. The project cost US$250m and is part of expansion plans to accommodate over one million visitors annually. Cement was sourced through the company’s exports from Puerto Rico between 2022 and 2024.
Belarusian Cement to build Moscow logistics facility
10 June 2024Russia: Belarusian Cement has concluded a deal with the Moscow regional government to build a logistics facility in the region at Naro-Fominsk. Prime Press News has reported that the facility will cost US$22.5m. It will be equipped with ready-mix concrete, precast concrete and dry mix plants, as well as a rail terminal, storage areas and loading zones for despatches by road.
Director General Alexander Dovgalo said "This investment will not only bolster our logistics capabilities but also enhance our service quality for Russian partners and extend our market reach within Russia and the CIS member states."
Belarusian Cement Company more than triples exports of autoclaved aerated concrete blocks to Russia in 2023
12 February 2024Belarus/Russia: Belarusian Cement Company (BCC) increased exports of its autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks to Russia by a factor of more than three year-on-year in 2023. Three units, including the company’s Krasnoselskstroimaterialy building materials plant, contributed to the growth. BeITA News has reported that the increase more than offset the decline in BCC’s foreign sales of AAC blocks following the imposition of international sanctions on Belarus in 2022 for aiding Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.
Russia: Belarus-based Belarusian Cement Company plans to establish a building materials production and logistics hub in Moscow. Among other materials, the hub will produce dry mixes using cement imported from Belarus, as well as producing ready-mix concrete, autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks and reinforced concrete goods. Business World News has reported that the facility will be equipped with rail and road terminals.
Belarusian Cement Company said "The creation of this facility will secure permanent availability of Belarusian Cement Company products directly in the sales region and will enable more advantageous logistic conditions for Russian partners. Belarusian Cement Company will be able to significantly expand its capabilities for delivering products to consumers that have no access to the railway grid and will be able to introduce a more convenient and accessible level of client service."
Holcim acquires HM Factory
16 March 2023Poland: Switzerland-based Holcim has acquired precast concrete producer HM Factory. HM Factory supplies precast concrete products manufactured in Poland to the Scandinavian export market. It employs 70 people across its operations.
Holcim’s Europe regional head Miljan Gutovic said “HM Factory is a perfect complement to our existing operations, offering multiple technological and raw material synergies. I look forward to welcoming the employees of HM Factory, whose expertise will be invaluable in accelerating green growth, especially in highly efficient modular construction.”
