South Korea: 13 small and medium-sized operators of ready-mix concrete plants in Jeonju, North Jeolla, have announced their intent to procure environmental product declarations (EPDs) for their products. The companies include Daeyeon Concrete and Seoji Ready-mixed Concrete. The Maeil Business Newspaper has reported that construction firm Posco E&C will cover part of the costs of the certifications.

Posco E&C said that this collaboration will help it to ensure a supply of reduced-CO₂ concrete for its upcoming residential property developments in Jeonju.

South Korea: Sampyo Industry has unveiled its new BLURCON Rain OK concrete. The company says that the concrete delivers consistent strength and quality even when poured in rainy conditions, thanks to its anti-washout technology. Its water-soluble polymers and optimised materials increase its viscosity and adhesion to reinforcing bars. Hyundai Engineering & Construction, HDC Hyundai Development Company, Hyundai Engineering and GS Engineering & Construction also collaborated in developing the product.

South Korea: Lotte Engineering & Construction and M-Tech have successfully developed a new 90% reduced-CO₂ concrete with 5% cement content. Korea Economic Daily News has reported that the product has the same strength as ordinary Portland cement (OPC)-based concrete and has good resistance to salt damage.

South Korea: SK Group subsidiary SK Ecoplant has partnered with CMD Group to launch pilot production of building materials made using up to 60% recycled bottom ash from waste incinerators. The partners say that an exothermic reaction in the presence of non-sintered inorganic binders and expansion-reducing reactants increases the compressive strength of the end product to match that of concrete containing ordinary Portland cement (OPC).

AJU News has reported that South Korean waste incinerators produced 2.16Mt of bottom ash from 9.12Mt of waste in 2020.
