Singapore: A team at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore has developed a new method for 3D printing concrete that incorporates steam and CO₂ from industrial by-products into the concrete mix. The team says that the process enhances the strength of concrete, while reducing the total volume used in construction.

Singapore: Jurong Port (JP) has officially launched its Ready-Mixed Concrete (RMC) Ecosystem, a complex of five ready-mix concrete plants. The RMC Ecosystem integrates 11 aggregates plots and a neighbouring cement terminal at the port. JP is now one step closer to realising its vision of developing Singapore’s first Integrated Construction Park (ICP), where construction companies can carry out off-site production in one central location. The ICP will feature the efficient discharge of construction inputs directly into a cluster of downstream construction-related activities, thereby improving productivity, reducing carbon emissions and optimising land use.

Singapore: Malaysia-based YTL Corporation has concluded a conditional sale and purchase agreement for an 81% stake in NSL for US$169m. YTL Cement will launch a mandatory unconditional cash offer for all outstanding shares in NSL after completing the acquisition. NSL manufactures precast concrete components and operates an environmental services division.

Singapore: Pan-United Corporation has introduced a Sany electric-powered concrete mixer truck into its fleet. The truck has a 350kWh battery with a peak power of 360kW and a two-hour charging time. The move will reduce the CO₂ emissions per journey by 45%, in line with Pan-United Corporation’s goal of net zero ready-mix concrete production and distribution by 2050.

Pan-United Corporation CEO Ken Loh said "Pan-United is excited to welcome electric vehicles into Singapore’s built environment industry. We hope to eventually operate a substantial fleet of electric concrete mixer trucks for our day-to-day operations. This step marks an exciting new venture in exploring alternative fuel technology and a deepening commitment to accomplish Pan-United’s aim of being a carbon-neutral ready-mix concrete company by 2050."

Malaysia/Singapore: Pan-United Corporation has signed a new contract with renewable power provider Cleantech Solar. With the support of Keppel, Keppel Asia Infrastructure Fund and Shell Singapore, the partners will install 900 solar panels at Pan-United Corporation sites, including its Johor slag grinding plant in Malaysia. The building materials producer is executing the project as part of an existing three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shell Singapore for the decarbonisation in the built environment. Commissioning of Pan-United Corporation’s new solar power capacity is scheduled later in 2024.
