Nuvoco Vistas inaugurates second ready-mix concrete batching plant
23 February 2024India: Nuvoco Vistas has inaugurated its second ready-mix concrete plant, at Ranipur Milki Chak in Bihar’s Patna District. The producer said that the plant, called Patna-II, is strategically positioned for access both to local cement plants and the urban concrete market of Patna. The plant commands 60m3/hr of capacity and is equipped with a twin shaft mixer capable of producing all grades of concrete. Its products include Nuvoco Vistas’ XCON, CONCRETO, Light Weight Concrete, Fibre Enriched Concrete, High Strength Concrete, Water and Crack Resistant Concrete, Foundation Expert Concrete, ECODURE Green Concrete, ARTISTE Decorative Concrete Floors, and INSTAMIX Ready-to-Use Bagged Concrete.
Chief of the ready-mix concrete and modern building materials Prashant Jha said "The launch of the Patna-II plant underscores Nuvoco's dedication to providing innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry in Bihar. This new facility will not only strengthen our presence in the region but also enable us to serve our customers more efficiently."
Nuvoco Vistas commissions new Hyderabad ready-mixed concrete plant
05 February 2024India: Nuvoco Vistas has commissioned a new ready-mixed concrete batching plant in Hyderabad, Telangana. The Hans India newspaper has reported that the new facility brings the producer’s total in the city to five.
Nuvoco Vistas’ chief of ready-mix concrete and modern building materials Prashant Jha said “The newly opened facility strengthens the company’s position in Hyderabad. It also plays a vital role in shaping the dynamic construction ecosystem of Medchal and its neighbouring areas. This expansion affirms the company’s commitment to meeting the changing demands of the construction sector.”
India: Finland-based Betolar introduced its artificial intelligence-based service for production of reduced-CO2 concrete using its Geoprime additive at World of Concrete India 2023 on 18 October 2023. Betolar designs recipes and provides a liquid chemical dosing system and post-production services to Geoprime users. Dow Jones Institutional News reports that Betolar has concluded strategic tie-ups in South and West India, and is ‘actively planning’ further expansion.
Managing director Abhishek Bhattacharya said "Interest in our solution is growing fast in India and we have successfully demonstrated that the twin goal of sustainability and performance can be achieved remarkably faster with Betolar’s Geoprime solution.”
India: Nuvoco Vistas has commissioned a new 60m3/hr ready-mix concrete batching plant in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The company says that it aims to grow its concrete footprint in the growing Southern Indian market. It operates one other batching plant in Tamil Nadu, located at Chennai.

Nuvoco launches InstaMix Superior Column Concrete
03 August 2023India: Nuvoco has announced the launch of its InstaMix Superior Column Concrete. The product’s formulation gives it workability for up to four hours, and a strength of 6MPa within 12 - 16 hours, enabling early de-shuttering of cast columns. Nuvoco will supply the concrete in 35kg bags.

Shree Cement to enter ready-mix concrete sector
26 July 2023India: Shree Cement plans to set up a ready-mix concrete network in its resident Indian market. The network will consist of five ready-mix batching plants. The Business Standard newspaper has reported that the cement company expects to commission the new concrete capacity before the end of the current financial year on 31 March 2024.
India: Nuvoco Vistas has commissioned its new Vizag ready-mixed concrete batching plant in Andhra Pradesh. The facility will produce the company's Concreto and Artiste general purpose and decorative ready-mix concretes, as well as its InstaMix bagged ready-mix concrete. The cement company says that the new concrete plant is 'strategically located' to contribute to the transformation of the region into a hub for smart cities and industry. Projects Today news has reported that the Vizag batching plant is the second opened by the company, after another in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
India: Adani Cement subsidiaries ACC and Ambuja Cements have launched the Cement and Concrete Research and Development Facility at Kalamboli in Maharashtra. Dion News Service has reported that the focus of the centre will lie in product development, productivity enhancement and increasing the efficiency of cement and concrete production.
Adani Cement CEO Ajay Kapur said "Our new research and development facility is our reinforcement towards our collective commitment to pushing boundaries, driving innovation, and addressing industry challenges."
India: Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited (AWHCL) has won a US$124m contract for construction and demolition waste management services in Mumbai. Press Trust of India News has reported that the contract covers nine municipal subdivisions of the city and will last until 2044. AWHCL said that the contract will enable it to develop the circularity of cement and concrete within the local economy. It expects to commission 600t/day-worth of waste processing capacity by March 2023. The waste management company expects a recovery rate of 25% recyclable materials.
AWHCL chairman and managing director Jose Jacob said "This sub-segment of solid waste management provides tremendous growth opportunities given the number of infrastructure development projects underway, and the government's push to accelerate the economic growth with infrastructure being one of the important growth pillars."
SRM Institute of Science and Technology patents paving block containing waste printed circuit board
02 February 2023India: A team at SRM Institute of Science and Technology has patented a new concrete paving block produced using fibres from waste printed circuit board (WPCB). The refuse-derived material will replace some sand and clay in the concrete mix. SRM Institute of Science and Technology said that India generates 2Mt/yr of electronic waste (e-waste), and additionally imports this type of waste from other countries. Besides being non-biodegradable, WPCB is contaminated with colouring chemicals.
The developers said "The steadily rising volume of electronic waste poses a serious hazard to human health and the environment."
