Canada: Holcim has completed its acquisition of precast concrete producer Langley Concrete Group. Holcim says that the acquisition brings it into the British Columbia precast concrete market, where Langley Concrete Group operates two plants, at Chilliwack and Duncan. The plants produce dry-cast and wet-cast concrete pipes, manholes, box culverts and other custom components.
CEMARK opens Bucha building materials technical hub
Ukraine: CRH subsidiary CEMARK has opened a technical hub for building materials in Bucha, Kyiv Region. The work of the hub will involve the development of new binders and mix formulations.
CEMARK said "This is about creating a new generation of materials that will improve the quality of our lives, increasing the stability of Ukraine's infrastructure."
Cement Industries of Malaysia invests US$139m in marine concrete research
Malaysia: Cement Industries of Malaysia (CIMA) has invested US$139m in the research and development of novel, reduced-CO2 concretes for marine construction applications. A team from the Science University Malaysia will carry out the research at its Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies.
Upcoming building materials cluster in Moscow to produce concrete products
Russia: Local authorities in Moscow’s Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts (TiNAO) have announced an upcoming construction products cluster. The cluster will include plants to produce reinforced concrete, concrete structures and modular buildings, alongside other materials.
Moscow’s Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov said the plants together will generate 30,000 new jobs.
