Netherlands: Alternative cement developer Paebbl has supplied its carbon-sequestering material to replace 30% of cement in concrete used in the construction of a CO₂-neutral footbridge in Rosmalen, North Brabant. The footbridge features a 7m x 1.8m deck and stores 66kg of CO₂. It also incorporates biochar supplied by CarStorCon and recycled aggregates supplied by Urban Mine. Construction firm Heijmans executed the project.

Paebbl vice president of products Ana Luisa Vaz noted that the 30% cement replacement rate is the material’s ‘highest to date’ in structural concrete.
