US: Titan Virginia Ready-Mix and Roanoke Cement Company have won a 2025 Concrete Innovations Award for their design and paving project at the Norfapeake cement terminal in Chesapeake, Virginia. The terminal operates as an affiliate of Roanoke Cement Company and is involved in the import of raw materials and the distribution of cement. The upgrade involved the construction of a 70,000t-capacity cement storage dome and new rail and road facilities for cement despatch.
Roanoke Cement Company supplied its Type-IT 24% reduced-CO2 ternary blended cement for use in the production of concrete for the project, in order to improve its performance under the brackish conditions at the site. Titan Virginia Ready-Mix added its ProAsh fly ash supplementary cementitious material at the batching stage to further improve workability and durability.
