US: Precast concrete producer Smith-Midland Corporation has appointed Dominic Hunter as its new chief financial officer (CFO). Investing News has reported that Hunter will have responsibility for accounting, treasury, financial reporting and investor relations. He brings 20 years’ financial leadership experience, having previously served as Vice President at research management society SRA International and CFO of defence equipment producer O'Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring. Hunter has served in the US Army and the US National Guard's 29th Infantry Division as an intelligence analyst. He graduated from University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

Kenya: Bamburi Cement has launched a new US$771,000, 120m³/hr ready-mix concrete plant in Bamburi, Mombasa County. The plant is intended to help the producer to serve growing demand. The plant’s products include chloride-resistant concrete for marine applications.

Parent company Amsons Group’s Cement CEO Mokate George Ramafoko said "The Coastal region is home to accomplished and ongoing infrastructural projects."

Ukraine: Finland-based Peikko Group Corporation says that it has commissioned an industrial building at its upcoming Bila Tserkva concrete products and composite structures plant. Interfax-Ukraine News has reported that the producer plans to invest €3m in the project. It will continue to import equipment for the plant throughout May 2025.

India: Olectra Greentech has launched Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) rebar, produced using electrical and chemical resistance (ECR) glass and epoxy resin. The Hans India newspaper has reported that GFRP rebar delivers tensile strength greater than that of steel, at 950 – 1100MPa, at just a quarter of the weight. Its non-corrosive, non-magnetic, non-conductive and water-resistant characteristics render it particularly suitable for demanding environments, according to the producer.
