UK: Holcim UK has supplied nearly 900,000m³ of reduced-CO₂ ready-mix concrete to construction sites for the upcoming HS2 railway since 2021. Rail Business Daily News has reported that the producer has delivered 103,000m³ of ready-mix concrete for use in the production of prefabricated tunnel sections in Birmingham, West Midlands. It has supplied 500,000m³ of ready-mix concrete to construction sites in Birmingham and 300,000m³ to Old Oak Common station, London, where it is due to supply a further 30,000m³ by 2030.
Holcim UK’s HS2 Operations Director Andrew Hockey said "Forging vital partnerships like this will be key to unlocking the potential we have to make sustainable construction a reality across the UK, and collaborations of this significance are truly what will drive the construction industry's success – the nation's most visible sign of progress."
